Britain's Chris Walker has won the highest accolade of his photographic career, the 2008 CIK-FIA International Karting Photo Contest. On assignment for the U.K.'s Karting Magazine, Walker presented a picture of the Canadian KZ2 driver Michael Vincec in a desperate overtaking manoeuvre at the European Championship meeting held at Varennes-sur-Allier in France. The outcome was judged by those present at the awards ceremony of the International Karting Commission of the FIA, at Monaco on 13th December, where a short list of the top pictures of the year was presented. "This award means an awful lot to me and Karting Magazine, especially to have been voted first and best by the whole of the international karting community gathered here at Monaco," said Walker. His picture portfolio can be viewed on www.kartpix.net . "Almost every weekend of the year, photographers like myself are out on the circuit taking pictures for the later enjoyment of the drivers, teams and public, and the standard this year was so high, I am just absolutely delighted to have won, and I would like to thank Vincent Caro and his colleagues at the CIK for the organisation of the contest, Mark Burgess, the editor and publisher of Karting Magazine, and all the other publications that take my work, and also I need thank my good friends at the KSP Agency for there help and support " added Walker.
