After several discussions in Magny-Cours and knowing of the unfortunate “conflict' between International Superkart Series and European Superkart Series drivers, we are working on a French Championship which will be “Open', parallel with the French national championship. FFSA have already adapted the similar situation in the short circuit Karting top championship (Grand Prix Open for KF1, KF3, KZ2) We have prepared a proposal to present to the representatives of FFSA and the President of CNK (Karting department) to accept this idea of parallel championships.
We tried to persuade ISS and ESS to join us and come racing with us in France for something like last year's French Cup to have more competitors together. But they decided to go somewhere else. Don't forget we are not a private Series and our national program is already deposited.
Around the track, the first reactions were enthusiastic, but the reactions by direct contacts with you, members of various authorities, were less positive. Dear friends, we think that mainly misunderstanding was causing the doubts about our simple project.
We don't want to impose a 3rd series in Europe in competition to the ISS and ESS, but just improve our national championship with a double ranking. It would be accepted by our Federation, to award a title alongside the traditional title, in applying the CIK rules (for licensing in particular)....
The main purpose is to try to satisfy the requests of several drivers in the same time.
-To get round the rule, which prevents an unlicensed driver in France to score points on circuits not approved by the FIA-CIK. (Swiss Gerber, Louvet are in this case, like before the Spanishs who are subjected to the crisis but could come back)
- Redspeed team likes to have a coherent program for theirs drivers - customers, with an objective which instigates their motivation. The team often comes in France (And before them, it was the Barker team) only for occasional events, coming more regular would give them a real chance which could be the same for other teams.
- All the drivers running in the French championship are de facto in the ranking of this Championship Open if they have the proper license (international c minimum) of course.
We think, that some of your fellow countrymen had the wrong reaction, believing in a competition. The drivers are choosing where to compete, we would inform them about new perspectives. We try to present a more attractive national championship in cooperation with European drivers. That's all.
We have to know if our project has a chance before we are presenting it to the FFSA, otherwise we would have worked for nothing. We would not like to lose our credibility towards the FFSA if nobody joins this project.
Look at some attached extracts of our file, and see that it is not a question of building another series but to score points and get a title for all who have an international license on the basis of our France 2011 program with dates and circuits h already validated.
If it proves to be a success and can help the Superkart we could envisage a common race with existing series in 2012 . A positive reaction is all we need ! I wish you all a good season 2011 and give you more details as soon as possible.
